BBL13 Strikers vs Scorchers Betting Tips
Adelaide Oval, Friday 5th January, 7.15pm (AEDT)
Strikers
The Strikers will do battle against the Scorchers for the 2nd time in just three days, as the two teams faced off in Perth back on Wednesday night. The Scorchers recorded a comfortable win to hand Adelaide their fourth straight loss and send them to the bottom of the BBL13 table.
Despite going down by 42 runs, Matthew Short was impressive with the bat, smashing 74 off just 44 balls in the unsuccessful run chase. Bowling seems to be the main issue for the Strikers at the moment, as they continue to adjust to life without Rashid Khan for the first time in five years.
Strikers Predicted XI: Matthew Short, D’Arcy Short, Chris Lynn, Adam Hose, Thomas Kelly, Jamie Overton, James Bazley, Harry Nielsen, Henry Thornton, David Payne, Cameron Boyce
Scorchers
The Scorchers haven’t put a foot wrong in BBL13 so far, winning four of their five games after their first of the season was a non-result. Batting first on Wednesday night, the Scorchers got off to a bit of a slow start but it was Enhlishman Laurie Evans who boosted them over the 200 run mark for the first time this season with a blistering 85 off just 28 balls.
With the ball, it was speedster Lance Morris who led the way, taking 5/24 off his four overs while Andrew Tye and Jhye Richardson each chipped in with two wickets each. Can’t envision the Scorchers making any changes to their line-up after such a strong season to date.
Scorchers Predicted XI: Zak Crawley, Sam Whiteman, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Laurie Evans, Cooper Connolly, Ashton Agar, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Lance Morris
Betting Tips
Hard to look past the Scorchers here, even on the road. Their depth is pretty astounding when you think about it. Nearly all of their batting line-up has contributed with big innings at some stage this season and they have without doubt the best pace bowling contingent in the league.
While I think their batting is actually pretty strong, the Strikers have looked well off the pace so far this season, particularly their bowling unit. Back the Scorchers to get the job done here.

Matthew Short has been the mainstay of the Strikers batting line-up for the last two seasons now and he is in some stellar form through four innings, smashing 275 runs at an average of 55. Backing him to clear the 20 run mark again on Friday.
Pairing that with Josh Inglis to score 20+ runs. The hard hitting wicketkeeper has been up and down this season but has found some form over his last two innings, scoring 64 off 49 against the Renegades before scoring 26 against the Strikers a few nights ago.
Matthew Short 20+ Runs
Josh Inglis 20+ Runs
