Midweek racing returns to Ladbrokes Park (Hillside) on a program which sees eight races on offer with a BM 64 event getting underway at 1pm.
A Soft 6 track is likely with the weather to be fine. It's not a bad day of racing too and I have picked out my four best bets to share!
Sandown Racing Tips – Wednesday, April 19th 2023
Race 1
(4) Ebony King for the Begg stable should be highly competitive in this race after a smart 3rd on a similar surface at this track last time out. The horse that beat him last time (Altivo) looks Saturday class and I expect this son of Lohnro to settle on speed again and be mighty hard to run down.
(3) The Art of Flying is the main danger on the back of an honest 7th at Warwick Farm last time. That race was harder than this is so you would think he would improve on a 7th position here.
(2) Blood Oath is pretty fit now and has placed in 50 percent of his career starts. Should place again.
(5) Red Red Wine was unlucky last start and will pay nice odds if he can sneak a drum.
(4) Ebony King - WIN
$3.40 (2 Units)
Race 3
(6) Extreme Ally gets the blinkers off here and looks ready to fire now. She has placed in her last couple of starts beaten less than a length and they were both on Soft tracks which she gets again. She is fully fit now and I think the Ellerton stable will be expecting a positive performance in this.
(8) Marble Gold won a Morington trial last week and resumes off a spell. She has placed first up before and that was on a similar surface.
(10) Tosen Snowfall is in a leading stable and they will expect improvement in this. She was 4th on debut (Kyneton) and she will have trained on.
(11) World Action ran on quite well at Ballarat for 3rd last time and a similar run is expected here. Will likely settle midfield before hooking out at the 400m.
(6) Extreme Ally - WIN
$3.60 (2 Units)
Race 6
(6) Who Dares has drawn a little wide in 10 but it was a good effort last start when he went down at Lakeside by a nose and he would be even fitter this time with it being his 4th run this campaign. He can handle any surface and he will want to settle around 4th in the run, but it will be likely be on the outside from the draw. Rhys McLeod takes the ride this time.
(2) Blakmax has won 2 from 6 on the Soft ground but will likely be better in a month or two when it's wetter. If the track gets upgraded to Good, leave him alone.
(7) Big Watch goes up in distance and would be 2nd pick if it wasn’t for a poor draw (11). Won well at Kilmore before getting done by a nose at Cranbourne. In form.
(9) El Soleado led all of the way at Pakenham last start and may try similar tactics here. Harder race though and may get run down late.
(6) Who Dares - WIN
$5.50 (1 Unit)
Race 8
(2) Globe is going for three in a row and could do it after drawing well in barrier 2.
His latest win at Pakenham was very impressive (3.5L) and that was on a Soft 6 which he will likely get here. He is a leader and from barrier 2 he should be able to control the race. The worry will be if another horse tries to take him on early and they go too hard. Celine Gaudray will be aware of that.
(4) Cadmus comes into this race very fresh and from barrier 1 may be able to get a soft run first up.
(9) Captain Pluto will settle on pace and have an eye on Globe the whole way. He was 2nd beaten a head at Pakenham last start but that was on a Dry track.
(10) Simeon was poor last run but the 2 runs prior were very good. Is carrying 5kg more this time which is a worry.
(2) Globe - WIN
$2.50 (3 Units)
