Sydney Kings vs New Zealand Breakers Preview & Betting Tips
Sunday Jan 22, 4pm AEDT, Qudos Bank Arena
A couple of weeks ago we would’ve thought this game would be a battle of the top two teams in the league, but that sentiment no longer stands due to the horrible form of the Breakers.
The Breakers enter this contest on a four-game losing streak and have also gone down in seven of their last nine games.
It’s not as though they’ve had a tough schedule either, with five of their last seven losses coming on home soil.
Their recent defeat against the Hawks was the worst of the lot, courtesy of a Tyler Harvey bomb at the buzzer.
Maybe hitting the road won’t be the worst thing for the Breakers after three losses in a row in New Zealand, especially when you consider their road record (7-3) is far superior to their home standings (6-7).
Meanwhile, the Kings are coming off a loss of their own, but at least their loss came after winning six on the spin.
Their defeat against the Wildcats last start was one in which they couldn’t get a stop to save their lives when giving up a season-high 111 points regulation. Prior to that the biggest total they’d given up 103 in regulation against the Snakes back in Round 5.
Still, the Kings sit pretty at the top of the table and with a healthy two-loss advantage over the second-placed Snakes.
The Breakers are currently in third place but have a wall of teams queuing up to take their spot.
These ball clubs have met twice so far in NBL23 and the Kings have gotten the chocolates on both occasions. Both wins were on the road at Spark Arena, which means they’ll play hosts in this matchup for the first time on Sunday afternoon.
All the stats and all the metrics lead to another Kings win at Qudos Bank Arena, a place where they’ve won five straight games.
The Kings clearly have the upper hand and should be able to sweep the series and cover the spread in the process.
