2015 Wimbledon Preview
It’s that time of year. Wimbledon is my favourite Grand Slam and one of the best sporting events on the planet. It’s the same old faces that will be starting as favourites and you would be a brave person to bet against either Novak Djokovic or Serena Williams. But perhaps it will be the year of back-to-back champs with Djokovic saluting along with Petra Kvitova! Find out what we think, along with a list of all the best betting promotions, in our 2015 Wimbledon preview & predictions article.
MEN
If you have a soft spot for 33-year old Roger Federer, you will be happy to know he comes into this tournament with fantastic form. Federer won his 8th Gerry Weber on Sunday defeating Andreas Seppi 7-6, 6-4. I would love to see him win it all but Djokovic looks so dangerous and after losing to Stan Wawrinka in the French Open, I believe he will be hungry for it.
The French Open saw an inspired Wawrinka secure his second Grand Slam however he is not on our radar as grass is his very least productive surface. Although Djokovic lost in the final to Wawrinka, his tennis in his previous matches versus Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal were almost perfection.
It may not look like much value at $2.37 but just like our U.S Open golf tip on Jordan Spieth, sometimes the favourite is a favourite for good reasons and I believe this is a very similar situation. My money is with Novak to go back-to-back at Wimbledon.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic at $2.37 at CrownBet
WOMEN
If Novak Dojokovic plays his best, but has to face the rest of the ‘big four’ at their best, then it is anyone’s game. In the Women’s draw, if Serena Williams plays her best, the title is hers.
However, Williams has struggled to get near the final in the last couple of years at Wimbledon and last won Wimbledon in 2012. That could change this year.
No doubt Williams’ biggest rival is the reigning champion Petra Kvitova. The Czech simply comes alive on the grass court winning Wimbledon in 2011 and again last year. Kvitova has reached the final eight of Wimbledon for the last five years and at the odds, looks more value than Serena.
Prediction: Petra Kvitova at $5.50 at William Hill Australia
