We head back to Rosehill this Saturday for the usual ten race program. The promise of sunshine and a drying track will hopefully make for a good day of racing with every horse getting their chance.
The track is currently rated a heavy 9 after plenty of rainfall throughout Sydney this week. As mentioned though, the sun has been shining in recent days and if we don’t get any more rain on race day we should be racing in the soft range.
As always, Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the program and brings you his free horse racing tips, including best bets and race previews.
Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday July 16th
Race 2
Don’t usually get around the Highways but think (6) Rebel Dreamer is a class above this lot and an exciting horse for connections. He’s got a stack of upside winning two of three career starts and resumed with a dominant win over 1000m. Up to 1200m shouldn’t be an issue and I really like the positive jockey booking of Jason Collett.
(5) Sire Ravanelli is probably the only other horse in this race who is yet to reach their ceiling. Comes out of a strong Highway race running 4th behind Bootscooter and Lisztomania who have since run well in the Grafton Guineas this week.
(1) So Country is yet to miss the top two in six career runs so far and was a strong winner resuming at Armidale recently. Will be fitter with that run under the belt and should be able to roll forward and give them something to catch.
(10) Red Boulevard could be the blowout and is a winner 3rd up previously. There was breathing issues last start so worth forgiving off that. The first up win was good.

Race 5
Like (6) Comme Bella Fille getting down in the weights now while rising in grade. Has been very good at past two carrying big weghts in bm78 grade. She maps for a nice trail for Reece Jones who has a great association with the horse. Just think she is flying this prep and gets a great opportunity to notch another win.
(1 Francesco Guardi will lead them up again and will be looking to notch a third straight win. He is hard fit and likes racing here at Rosehill. Tyler Schiller is in top form and offsets the big weight with his claim.
(3) Lord Ardmore looks the obvious trifecta horse and will take a stack of improvement out of the good fresh run. Was only beaten by a hard fit horse there and is a winner 2nd up previously. 2/2 here at Rosehill and looks to get the gun trail behind the leader.
(8) My Demetra the blowout chance.

Race 6
(1 Alcyone comes up to Sydney for the first time and I think he has a bit of a class edge on most of these. Has a strong first up record and has trialled up nicely since arriving in NSW. Stable are flying at the minute and expecting Bowman can have him in the box seat in running here. If the gaps come at the right time I think he will be too good for this grade.
(2) Head Of State is the other horse I want to have something on and looks a more than backable price. Resumes here gelded and has had four trials since his flop in the G1 Spring Champion. He beat Prodondo the start prior to that so clearly that form is plenty good enough for this. If he can find his best, he wins this.
(9) Sacred Command also comes up from Melbourne and has been racing in career best form this prep. Finds this arce 4th up and hard fit with rain affected ground no negative for him. This is tougher but have to trust Waller.
(8) Lease is super honest but is still stuck on the one win in 15 career starts. He looks near enough to win number 2 and has been building nicely stepping up in trip at each start this prep.
Also Backing: (2) Head Of State - $8 (0.5 unit)
(1) Alcyone
$5.00 (1 unit)
Race 10
Pretty keen on (12) Shades Of Rose who resumed in dramatic fashion when bucking the rider off soon after leaving the gates. Played no part in that race and has since been back to the trials for a comfortable win. She is very smart and strung together three good wins on the bounce in debut prep. Trust the stable have her right today and she looks the obvious here.
It looked as if (1) Snowzone was going to win halfway up the straight last week but just peaked on the run. The quick backup tells me he is going very well and is racing in career best form this prep. Just not sure he likes Rosehill as much as Randwick.
The wetter the better for (3) Our Belagio Miss and has had a little freshen since we last saw her. She’s a winner at her only start this track and trip and gets Bowman on today from a gun draw. Will be right in this.
(4) Distillate is flying, running her opposition ragged from the front this prep. The 3kg claim for Hennessy is a big positive and I expect they will making full use of that up in the lead today.
