We’ve got a cracking day of racing all around the country today highlighted by the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast. Rosehill and Flemington will play the support roles today with good meetings there as well.
Billy Bestford has cast his eye across the meetings and has found his best bets to help you have a fill up this Saturday.
Horse Racing Tips: Saturday, January 15th
Rosehill Race 1
(6) Kanazawa was smashed in betting last start in a very strong 3yo race. Ended up finishing 4th when wide with no cover there but kept finding to the line and really like how he finished off. Will take plenty from that and the horses who beat him there would all stack up pretty well in a race of this grade. Happy to follow him in today and should see a nicer run from a good draw.
Rosehill Race 2
(3) Metallicity has looked the part at two recent trials and is a big brute of a 2yo. The latest of those trials was his best work, hitting the line under his own steam while going past a couple of front running horses to win hands and heels. Think he looks very progressive and could go on to win some good races.
Gold Coast Race 4
Pretty keen on (7) Snapdancer here who comes into this 2nd up off a good fresh run. Will take plenty of fitness improvement out of that and is a very good 2nd up horse. Nice freshen up and trial between runs now and maps perfectly with Jmac to steer.
Gold Coast Race 8
(3) King Of Sparta looks a huge chance here for mine in the 3yo Magic Millions. Race fitness cost him first up when making very good ground in the Gosford Guineas and he looks to have come back in great order. Ran some slick sectionals there on a soft 7 and should enjoy getting back onto a dry deck.
The other horse I’m looking to have something on is (13) Shihonka who is flying this prep and is just an easy horse to follow. Goes forward, usually leads and gives a strong kick when asked for an effort. Clark has a great association with the horse and the stable always know how to prepare their horses for the big days. He will be out of the main pack and out of trouble which might be a big factor in these big fields.
Rosehill Race 10
Hard to miss the trial of (10) Star Cherie leading into this when bolting in by 6.5L. That was in pretty quick time and she could be in for a huge prep if that's anything to go by. Should see nice run from the inside draw and she’s lightly raced with plenty of upside.
