EPL Matchday 9 Betting Tips
Aston Villa vs Brighton & Hove Albion
Sunday 2am AEDT
Aston Villa got their season off to a dream start with four wins on the spin, but hit a two-game roadblock where it seemed they’d crashed back to reality; however, Villa were able to bounce back with a fantastic 3-0 win away to Arsenal prior to the international break, which put them back on the right track.
Brighton made a positive start to their season with a couple of decent performances in their first two matches, but they’ve been pretty poor since. The Gulls are now six league matches without a win and will find themselves in the relegation battle if they can’t turn things around.
Aston Villa are the deserving favourites in this match and we expect them to be getting the job done on their home deck without too much hassle. Jack Grealish is a man in top form at the moment and as long as he provides his usual spark, Villa will have too much firepower.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City
Sunday 4:30am AEDT
Tottenham were able to find some of their better form leading into the international break, winning four of their five most recent matches in major competitions. Gareth Bale was able to finally get on the scoresheet for his new/old club after a couple of near misses.
Manchester City haven’t yet been at their scintillating best so far this season, but could potentially be within one win of top spot had they played all their scheduled matches. That said, they are currently on a nine-match unbeaten run in all competitions, which shows they’re building into the season nicely.
Both teams come into this fixture in some pretty good form, which should make for an entertaining 90 minutes. For us, the value lies with a Spurs win at home, simply due to their ridiculous near $4 quote. They’ll have every chance to win this match, or at least take a point from it.
Value: Tottenham Win ($3.90)
Liverpool vs Leicester City
Monday 6:15am AEDT
Liverpool have had some pretty ordinary news in recent weeks in regards to their squad fitness. A couple of key defenders have gone down with long-term injuries, which could hurt their ability to defend their title. That said, they’ve been pretty solid so far this campaign and should be right in the mix for this year’s title.
Leicester City have had a great start to their campaign and currently occupy top spot on the table thanks to wins in six of their eight matches to date. Jamie Vardy has been in stellar form again with eight goals already to his name.
This is another fantastic matchup this weekend that should make for some interesting viewing. Liverpool will start as the odds-on favourites at home and for good reason. Their record at Anfield in recent years is impeccable and gives punters plenty of reasons to take a stab at the decent price for them to win this weekend.
