Golden State Warriors at Cleveland Cavaliers
Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, 10am AEDT
The red-hot Golden State Warriors will look to keep it rolling on Monday when they head to Cleveland to take on one of their greatest rivals in the Cavaliers. The Warriors have put their road hoodoo to bed early this season as they currently sit 4-0 on the road. It’s a remarkable turnaround considering they were 8-33 on the road last regular season. The Warriors are now on a five-game winning run in total and will be full of confidence. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have had a less than ideal start to their campaign with losses in four of their first six games. They’re also a dismal 0-3 at home having fallen once each to the Thunder, Pacers, and Knicks. It’s far from panic stations for the Cavaliers although I am surprised to see them currently listed as slight favourites for Monday’s clash. On current form, the Warriors should be coming out on top in this one.

Charlotte Hornets at Dallas Mavericks
American Airlines Center, 11:30am AEDT
The Charlotte Hornets were able to find their first road win of the season in the second time of asking, as they defeated the Pacers on Sunday in a 125-124 thriller. LaMelo Ball’s shooting struggles continued but he was able to lock in on defence in the clutch to seal the win for his club. It doesn’t get any easier for the Hornets who will immediately travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks in the second game of a road back-to-back on Monday. The Hornets are a young side that are highly inconsistent at the best of times, meaning this will be a huge test for them. The line has been set at a rather larger 11.5 points in favour of the Mavericks, although I still think the home side will cover that under these circumstances.

Memphis Grizzlies at Portland Trail Blazers
Moda Center, 1pm AEDT
The final matchup of the day certainly isn’t a blockbuster but it could still prove to be entertaining, as the Memphis Grizzlies do battle with the Portland Trail Blazers for the second time this week. My focus for this game is on the points line of Jaren Jackson Jr. which is currently sitting at 21.5 points at most agencies. JJJ has played with a sense of urgency over the past three games, probably due to the realisation that his 0-6 Grizzlies desperately need him to be aggressive on offence. JJJ has had 20, 17, and 17 shot attempts over the past three games and is averaging 26.3ppg, including 30 points last time out against the Trail Blazers. I expect this level of aggression to continue and for him to eclipse his points line providing he doesn’t have an awful shooting night.
