The Valley hosts a 10-race card on Saturday with the Listed Carlyon Stakes the best race on the program. A few of the Spring contenders are resuming and gallopers will be running on a likely Soft5 surface. The first race starts at 12:25pm with the three-year-old’s running over 1200m.

Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Saturday, August 26th 2023
Race 7: Ranvet Handicap - 4:10pm (AEST)
(8) Future History has good form over this distance having won 3 of 5 starts and after a freshen up he should be ready to peak for the Maher & Eustace stable who have a strong team in the race. The gelding has won 3 races on the Soft and will like settle around midfield in the run, maybe a couple of lengths in front of the favourite Brayden Star.
(6) Brayden Star has been up a while now but has been racing in such consistent form. First try here but track conditions should suit.
(4) Jimmy The Bear won well last week and has won at The Valley before. Goes up 400m in distance which is the only real query.
(1) Young Werther remains at 2000m after winning well at Flemington last start. I think a bigger track suits him better.
(8) Future History - WIN
$6.50 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Paramount Liquor Carlyon Stakes - 4:45pm (AEST)
(7) Acromantula has been in the top 3 in 14 of 19 starts over this distance and I think barrier 4 helps here as he might be the first to get over to the rails with the race seeing plenty of pace here. He would like a track upgrade to Good which is a possibility and that would enhance his chances further. He was 3rd a fortnight ago when he saw The Valley for the first time and he should improve off that run.
(8) Omni Man may settle behind the leader or 4th early and may get the last crack at them. Was a bit unlucky when 2nd here last time.
(1) Sweet Ride goes up 3kg after winning here a fortnight ago. Can place if gets a nice run and if the track stays Soft, it's a positive.
(2) Snapper has drawn barrier 1 and is a place chance if can trail up behind the leader early. He loves The Valley and a Good track would enhance his chances.
(7) Acromantula - WIN
$4.60 (1 Unit)
Race 9: Boozebud Handicap - 5:15pm (AEST)
(11) French Emperor has had 3 wins from as many starts with Jamie Kah on top and he gets the jockey change after 6 races in a row where he has not won. In saying that he has been racing very well and has not had any luck his last couple. It's probably his last run this prep and with the drop in weight (5kg) he is a good chance in this. He usually settles back in his races and runs on but he did go forward 3 starts ago when 5th and that was probably his worst run this campaign, so I think he may drift back from barrier 4 this time.
(9) Arran Bay likes a Soft track and may get a comfortable run from the inside barrier. Has had 1 start for a 2nd here.
(7) St Lawrence is the fav and deserves to be on the back of 2 wins in a row. He is 2 wins from 3 starts on the Soft and he has never missed a placing in his short career.
(6) Deny Knowledge was backed to win last week but was then scratched. Interesting runner this week.
(11) French Emperor - WIN
$8 (1 Unit)
Race 10: Dr Sheahan Plate - 5:45pm (AEST)
(4) Najem Suhail has drawn well in 2 and may try to lead all of the way in this one. His best form is on Good tracks so I am hoping for a possible upgrade here which is a chance. He won 2 recent jumpouts in impressive fashion and he did win well down the straight at Flemington during the winter. Thomas Stockdale remains on and Najem Suhail has been freshened for this and does go better when kept that way.
(3) Maximillus is another who will want a Good track. He has won here before and will roll forward.
(5) Red Hot Nicc has drawn wide in barrier 11 but has been running well in the jumpouts. He has won 3 races over this distance and 2 at The Valley.
(11) Gringotts is going for 4 in a row but sees this track for the first time. Did win a jumpout last week but will need luck from a wide barrier.
(4) Najem Suhail - WIN
$4.20 (2 Units)
