Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, April 14th
Newcastle Race 1 - (Market)
The Gai/Bott team bring (2) Echo Lad to the races for start eleven, he has placed at one of three this time in and rises sharply in distance. Last start over the mile at Gosford he began well enough and was eased in behind to take the sit. He got into the clear in plenty of time and although he kept coming through the line, was very one paced and did have every chance. A couple of queries that I am willing to risk here, most notably the fact that he has never been past the mile previously. He jumps from the 1600m to the 2300m here and secondly goes onto the bigger track. They will probably try and lead with him from the good gate, he will need it easy through the middle to see him get up the long straight in front. Maybe some catch me if you can tactics could work?
Newcastle Race 2 - (Market)
(7) Princess Ariana debuted at Wyong about a month ago, she began well enough but was posted three-wide without cover and weakened badly off the torrid run. She was again at Wyong at start number two last time, again she was up on the speed and again stuck three-wide without cover. She stuck on well to place after the tough run. She steps up to the 1300m form two 1000m runs which is a little concern, the inside draw should see them pushing forward on her and leading. (2) Dreaming Of Gold is going to be very short here after being runner-up at all 6 of her career starts. She has been beaten as favourite in half of those 6 starts, the last two when well into the red. Does she know how to win? She will be giving our horse a start and Princess Ariana could have plenty of upside jumping in trip, happy to be against Dreaming Of Gold, especially at the ludicrously short quote (around $1.40) being offered up early.

Sale Race 2 - (Market)
(1) Ameliaranne is not officially first-up but she has had 6 weeks since her last run. She has had three starts at this her first campaign, placing at all three of them. She was wide without cover over 1100m on debut then over-raced outside the leader at start two but stuck on well in what has proved a good form reference. She was beaten favourite last start after seemingly having every chance, she dashed up to win but just found one better, there was a big gap to third though. She comes back in trip here after the freshen up and goes from Josh Cartwright to Olly!
Sale Race 7 - (Market)
(10) Glass Ceiling place don debut at Wodonga after racing up on the speed, she then was at Mow at start two and after finding a mid-field position in the run, saved ground to be right with the leader turning for home. She was the strongest over the last furlong and through the line in a race that has produced five winners since. She was sent to the paddock and won a Camperdon jump-out before being given a very soft trial at Benalla. She should be handy in the run and be finishing well, with those two appearances at the trials she looks ready to go first-up.
