Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, November 24th
Seymour Race 8 (Market)
The feature of the day is the Kilmore Cup being held here at Seymour. It looks an open race on paper but I am leaning towards the on-pace runner (11) East Indiaman. He looks one of the leaders in the race, the other looks to be (10) Al Passem who is drawn to his immediate outside. I would like to see Luke Currie kick through and try to hold them out, in saying that, if there is any pressure applied then taking the sit, is as good an option. Two starts back he lumped 58.5kg when leading all the way at Cranbourne, then went to Flemington on Cup Day and worked early to get behind the speed He was challenged at the clocktower and stuck on well to be narrowly beaten. This is harder but he drops in weight. (3) A Shin Rook gets the in-form Craig Williams on, happy to take him on as he is coming back in trip. He will be mid-field in the run and goes up in weight.
Queanbeyan Race 5 (Market)
(1) Hard Core has been runner-up at his last three starts, he has been very consistent throughout his career. He is back at his home track where he has a great record, he has raced here 6 times for 2 wins and three placings. He was very easy in the betting here last start and after being slowly away, gave a way a big start. It was only a small field and the tempo wasn’t great, he did well to run past all but the winner. This race doesn’t look any stronger, if he gets away with them, he should settle mid-field and with that same closing speed, can run over the top.
Swan Hill Race 2 (Market)
At the time of writing there are no prices out, so I am not sure how short (13) Numero Quatro will be. I am sure that she will be in the red, but he really does look a put-in take-out job. She ran on well from a mile back here at Swan Hill when resuming, she then went to a harder race at Bendigo and again made ground over 7 furlongs to narrowly miss the placings. She gets Harry Coffey back on for the family team, back to an easier maiden and down in weight, out to the mile she looks the best of good things. (5) Night Whisper is likely to be the second favourite, to give you an idea about the depth of the field, he is a 6YO maiden that is lining up for start 37 and was beaten more than 3 lengths at Donald last time at 30/1. Numero Quatro is your banker in everything today!
Sunshine Coast Race 4 (Market)
(4) Chevy Nova has only missed a place at one of his 6 career starts. All six of his starts have been here at his home track at the Sunny Coast, the best of those two wins was two starts back on a Class 2. Over 1000m, he was awkwardly away before settling behind the speed, nudged into the clear early in the straight before running on hard to bolt in by 3 lengths. He was here three weeks ago over the same trip, held-up behind the leader before getting the split and attacking the line again, missing by just over half a length. The horse that finished behind him in fourth that day has since come out and won by almost 5 lengths at Beaudesert. He maps beautifully again and loses nothing with Ryan Wiggins replacing Dan Griffin. There looks to be plenty of speed out wide, he should be camped on the leader’s heels once again and only needs even luck.
