Horse Racing Tips: Monday, November 18th
Mornington Race 5 (Market)
With the two early scratchings, at the time of writing there is only 6 to go around in the BM64 over 1500m. (3) Fuga will start the favourite and anything better than even money looks a steal. She won a BM58 by 6.5 lengths at Tatura three starts back when leading all the way, she then went to Moe on a soft track in a 64 and again brained them going wire to wire. Last start she went to the Valley and was well in the market, was unable to lead and was well beaten, the margin was officially 8.5 lengths. She is certainly better than that, there must have been an issue, the one that stands out is that she was unable to lead. Here from the inside in an easier race with a small field, she should be able to kick through and show what she did at the previous two starts.
Mornington Race 8 (Market)
Hoping to close out the day on the Peninsula with a winning ticket on (1) Rossman. He is a winner here previously on his hone track and is also a winner second-up previously, which he is today. He resumed here in a harder BM70 and actually carried more weight than what he will do today with the claim. He sat up on the speed and his condition gave way late, eventually fading to be beaten almost three lengths. He should roll forward again and if the inside horse doesn’t ping away, he may be able to cross and lead. It’s not all over for him if he doesn’t though, especially with the added fitness edge. (2) Toosbuy comes through that same race but had a softer run and does perform well fresh, I can’t see him beating home Rossman today, especially with the weight turnaround.
Grafton Race 3 (Market)
(2) Canford Springs had trialed well prior to stepping out for her debut here at Grafton a little less than a fortnight ago. She was drawn the middle of the line and started an $8.50 chance, she pinged the lids like a greyhound and found the front, kicked hard into the straight and cruised in to win by more than 2 lengths, with a further two and a half back to third. She does have to step out of maiden grade but it doesn’t get much easier than going into a Class 1 against the girls. Hopefully she steps away and can find the bunny again. (4) Serene Beauty looks huge unders, she was double figures last start in a similar race, had a soft run and was unable to reel them in having every chance. A big lay if she starts around the $6 she is currently quoted.
(2) Canford Springs
$3.50
Grafton Race 7 (Market)
(6) Campari Soda is no start but is very consistent, she won an easier race here at the track earlier this prep. She was brave in defeat last start at Taree, trapped wide and back in the field, she was forced to make her run probably earlier than what was ideal. Loomed up alongside the leaders but weakened over the final furlong. She looks like she just needs to be saved for one quick dash at then, using the inside barrier to ride for luck is perfect, when the gap appears, she can explode through it. That would be plan A, plan B may be to use the tactical speed she can show and try to lead, she did win her maiden easily down the road at Kempsey when leading all the way? Either way she looks a great bet at each-way odds.
