Welcome to our horse racing preview and betting tips for racing on Friday, September 13th.
We have a huge day of Group 1 racing tomorrow but first, we have meetings at Goulburn, Swan Hill and Tuncurry this afternoon. Luke Krahe has his best bets for each track below, including the Tuncurry Cup which headlines the day's racing!
Horse Racing Tips: Friday, September 13th
Goulburn Race 1 (Market)
I have got one simple rule about Hawkesbury form, straight to the bin unless it’s at Hawkesbury again! Last start (6) Leo was there, was well supported late and after having a soft run in behind the speed, only battled late and was beaten a couple of lengths in a race no easier than this. Forget that run, I had penned it 30 seconds after they crossed the line. The start prior at Kembla he over-raced through the middle stages and was last into the straight before getting to the outside and running on hard to go under by the barest of margins. Drawn beautifully in three, he should settle a little closer and finish well.
Goulburn Race 6 (Market)
(1) Princess Siri has been to the races 10 times and is still a maiden, so you can say that she has had enough chances. I like the fact she is drawn out here as she will be able to carve over and lead, and coming back in trip looks suitable. Last start at Newcastle on the Beaumont track she worked a little early to lead, kicked on the corner and would have traded at a short quote in the run before getting run down and beaten comfortably in the end. The wide draw will mean we will get a better price, if she gets across on the bunny early, go again in the run. I love leader around here that can kick on the turn.
Swan Hill Race 3 (Market)
I am very interested in seeing what (12) El Guerrouj can do here. The ex-Waller runner has come south to the in-form Busuttin/Young stable and draws the middle of the line. Interestingly they kept him in work when coming to the new stable, his three runs in NSW were all ok. Last time at Newcastle he ran on hard and was only beaten just over 2 lengths in a race where it was much more favourable to be up on the speed. She has got back in all three runs but I do like the fact that she comes back to the mile. The track here at Swan Hill has a good run home and the speed looks to come from some of the roughies, look for her late. Some money close to the jump will increase the confidence.
Tuncurry Race 8 - Tuncurry Cup (Market)
The feature if the day is the Forster Tuncurry Gold Cup! The mid-north coast twin towns will be buzzing and no doubt the RSL club will be pumping for a Friday night post Cup, I am sticking with best country/provincial jockey in the land Aaron Bullock. He rides (3) Zoffany’s Lad, two starts back at Newcastle he ran on well to win at BM64 grade before going to town in a much harder race last time. That was at 78 grade on a heavy track, he worked hard mid-race three-wide without cover to get outside the leader, beaten off early in the straight but not to worry. There was support for him that day at huge odds in a much tougher race, back on a good track, well drawn and should settle handy, this looks easier.
