Horse Racing Tips: Friday, October 11th
Canberra Race 3 (Market)
(6) Nahab is a 3-start maiden from the Snowden yard, he didn’t have much luck on debut before hitting the line well and was sent to the paddock. She resumed at Newcastle, got back and was held-up before hitting the line well enough. She then had 6 weeks on the sidelines, was again at Newcastle at the 1400m and settled closer but didn’t run out the trip. She comes back to the 1300m in an easier maiden here, hopefully from the wide gate they ride her quietly and let her settle to sit back and run over the top of them late. You must respect them when the Snowden yard brings them here, especially if there is money late.

(4) Te Ata hasn’t shown much in her two runs back from a spell, but the key is she drops significantly in grade and gets back on top of the ground. She hadn’t shown much tactical speed before last start where she jumped and landed on the bunny in a BM70, didn’t give much and faded late. This is certainly easier and gets the good 3kg claim, hopefully back in this grade they ride her positively again and she can go wire to wire. (3) Ons Vier will have supporter’s but happy to take her on, she has been up for a long time and although she made ground last time, she had every chance after saving ground and will be giving our tip a start.
Port Macquarie Race 5 (Market)
(3) Spring Charlie should be able to keep us alive one-out in the first leg of the Quaddie on Cup day, the Kim Waugh trained gelding is resuming today with gun country hoop Adrian Bullock to ride. His first-up record is great with 2 wins and a second from three fresh runs, has trialed nicely with two wins recently and looks ready to go. He was flying at this time last year with three straight wins, he is likely to be giving them a start here but if he gets the right horse to follow and gets wide in the straight, he should finish too well. Out under the arches is never a bad spot here at the Port Macquarie track. (1) Catesby has speed, has been up for a while but been given a 6-week freshen-up. He has good speed and looks the leader, I just think there will be some pressure applied and Spring Charlie can be too strong late.
Port Macquarie Race 7 (Market)
Chris Waller brings (15) Master Shuhood north to PMaq for the big one, just quietly a super day out for those that have never been to the Mid North Coast’s track Cup Day. With a host of duel acceptors I expoect that he will get a start as the emergency, he hasn’t done a lot this prep but I feel the horse is going well enough. His last two starts in town he has not been suited by the way the race was run, both of them it was more beneficial to be up on the speed. He will be giving them a start but looks suited getting out in trip and should hit the line hard. If (5) Rapido Chaparro runs here for the Gai/Bott team, he will run them along and lead for a long way, see how the track is playing by this stage of the day. He will be short and couldn’t take the price, but can certainly win if he gets it all his own way.
