Gloucester Park Harness Tips: Friday, May 24th
Race 1 – 7:24pm AEST
Barrier one should ensure that (1) Speed Man leads throughout to win the opening race on the program. (8) Bechers Brook is the other class runner, but he is a speedy horse that doesn’t often make his own luck. Could be a long way back in the field or forced to make a move to the breeze which isn’t his preferred racing pattern. I like (3) Ideal One as a place chance behind his stablemate Speed Man. Placed at his past two starts, Ideal One may be able to get a good run in the moving line and should be able to finish the race well.
(3) Ideal One to place
$3.40
Race 4 – 8:52pm AEST
Western Australia’s favourite son (3) Chicago Bull will find the lead and win over 1730m. (1) Whozideawasthis will get a perfect trail and has very strong place claims. He should finish second or third in the race and Stuart McDonald drives Whozideawasthis rather than (6) King Of Swing. Whozideawasthis has fallen to (4) The Bucket List on a couple of occasions recently. He looks a better chance of holding him off this time around. (2) Campora and King Of Swing are the other place chances.
(1) Whozideawasthis to place
$1.80
Race 5 - 3YO DIAMOND CLASSIC – 9:22pm AEST
Gate speed from (1) Majorpride should see her lead from the inside barrier with (10) All The Bells on her back. There isn’t really a breeze horse in the race which means stablemate (4) Has No Fear may have to race outside the leader again, which isn’t her preferred style; she was third from the breeze last time behind (12) Mandy Joan. Majorpride is consistent and rarely misses the top four. She looks the top pick in the race with Gary Hall Jnr driving. Most of the field have similar ability and the barrier draw has helped those drawn better.
My Rated Price: $2.50
Race 8 – 10:51pm AEST
The Pure Steel Consolation isn’t a strong race and I like the price about (10) Black Jack Zac who has found some form in recent months. A winner three starts ago over Our Rhythm N Blues, Black Jack Zac almost ran down The Midas Touch two starts ago. You can put the pen through his last start over 1730m when they ran a 27.8 third quarter. The 2130m is more suitable and driver Kyle Harper will have options being the only horse off the second row. Expect him to go close.
My Rated Price: $3.30
