FLEMINGTON TIPS
RACE 5
13 runners to go down the straight here which is always a bit of a nightmare but (6) Haunted might be the most progressive horse in this field. He resumed with a strong win over Tamasa at Geelong and finds a winnable race second up today. The stable are flying and Damian Lane keeps the ride. Looks the one to beat with some queries over the second favourite.
RACE 7
Weir has been saying for weeks that (2) Approach Discreet will relish the big Flemington track in this race so I think it’s worth giving him another go after a few things went against him at the Valley last start. He belted a weak field in Adelaide two starts ago and if he can get back to that sort of form with the big straight today, he’ll take some holding out. (3) Fun Fact could be the one he has to run down.

ROSEHILL TIPS
RACE 3
The Waller/JMac combination is the one I’m following at Rosehill and it’s very hard to look past (1) Girl Sunday here on the back of two wins at Newcastle to open her career. Typically that form for Sydney metro racing is a bit questionable but she’s won both easily. Doesn’t have much to beat here at all so happy to take the short odds.
RACE 4
It’s interesting to see the jockey changes here for the Waller runners. JMac has ridden (5) Scratches at her past three starts but jumps off to ride (10) Semper Fidelis today. Avdulla takes over on Scratches, while Tye Angland, who rode Semper Fidelis last start, takes the ride on (6) Plagiarist. On form yu’d probably lean towards Scratches but JMac going on Semper Fidelis has me going with her on top third up from a break today. Drawn to get a gun run and should be right in the finish.
(10) Semper Fidelis
$4.40
RACE 5
Looking for a Waller/JMac hattrick here with (11) Pembroke Castle who was luckless first up at Canterbury when held up until the last 50m. Probably should have won that race and McDonald takes over from Weatherly today so we’ve got a big jockey change. This horse won second up at Warwick Farm last preparation so brings legitimate metro form and provided he can overcome the awkward draw, looks hard to beat.
(11) Pembroke Castle
$2.45
RACE 8
Rounding out the day with the same combo here with (7) Metamorphic for Waller and McDonald. He’s been in great form his past four starts, with one win and three defeats by less than half-a-length. His past two defeats have beenin good form races – Junglized came out and won again in Queensland, while Wagner has won three on the bounce in Sydney. Needs to overcome the wide gate but brings the right form to be winning this.
