Midweek racing from New South Wales comes to us from the Canterbury track. It's a seven-race card at Canterbury on Wednesday with the first race commencing at 1:25pm AEST and the last to conclude at 4:55pm AEST.
Shannon Buckley is back with his best bets for the Cantebury card. All selections are for a Good/Soft track with anticipation that the track will be around that condition – watch and monitor for any pattern or changes to track condition. All selections made at 6:00pm on the 11th of September 2023.
Canterbury Racing Tips - Wednesday September 13th 2023
Race 2 Acy Securities BM72 1900m at 2.00pm AEST
(1) TRAVELLING KATE ($3.70) is a 6YO mare who won back to back but failed to run on at 2000m last start. Back to 1900m and at Canterbury where she was successful over this grade/trip three back. Will have to carry top weight, but with Jett Stanley in the saddle claiming 3kg it puts her right in this to win again. Draws well and expect her to find cover before launching late. Goes well.
(3) STATE OF AMERICA ($3.80) is the equal favourite who won nicely third up last start, but gets slightly tougher company here. Should be fit enough to show a nice run off last start.

Race 3 James Squire BM72 1550m at 2:35pm AEST
(7) ALFANO (8.50/$2.40) – 5YO gelding who finds it hard to win, but is proven at this track and distance at one of his two career wins. Hit the line well last start which has me keen to see him go again. McEvoy in the saddle is a big tick too. Goes well at each odds. Only narrowly behind DIMAGGIO who is favourite this time out and they meet each other at the same weights. This fella looks overs.
(2) DIMAGGIO ($4.00) – Favourite who looked to tire late to get nabbed. Takes on the same race here and will be around the mark again. Will need to be fitter off last run to hold the others off this time out.

Race 7 Stronger At Aquis Hcp 1350m at 2:53pm AEST
*SCRATCHED* (1) DIAMOND DEALER ($7.50 / $2.60) – 5YO mare who gets a significant class drop and then gets in light with a 3kg claim. She has a nice resume and looks a nice bet at odds amongst these others. Hopefully she jumps well from 8 and can sit nicely on pace with that burst of speed late to kick clear and win or run the drum at a nice each way price.
*SCRATCHED* (10) WHINCHAT ($8.50 / $2.90) – 4YO who won comfortably over this track/trip last start. Will need to lug an extra 2.5kg this time round though. Comes in again off a nice trial and will expect him to be around the mark here.
