BBL11 Scorchers vs Renegades Betting Tips
Marvel Stadium, Sunday December 26th, 9.15pm (AEDT)
Perth Scorchers
Likely XI: Kurtis Patterson, Josh Inglis, Mitch Marsh, Colin Munro, Ashton Turner, Laurie Evans, Ashton Agar, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Peter Hatzoglou, Tymal Mills
Kurtis Patterson is expected to return from a quad injury that saw him miss the match against the Renegades on Wednesday, with Cameron Bancroft set to make way for the in-form left hander. The Scorchers come into the return fixture on the back of a 21 run win over the Renegades.
The Scorchers haven’t put a foot wrong all season, and their batting unit has really kicked into gear over their last four games. The Scorchers have averaged 187 runs per game in their last four games, and after they put up 206 runs on the Renegades on Wednesday, they’ll be expecting to put up another big score.
The Scorchers have four players inside the top fifteen run scorers in BBL11 with Mitch Marsh (3rd, 207 runs at an average of 103), Kurtis Patterson (equal 7th, 146 runs at 48), Colin Munro (equal 7th, 146 runs at 36) and Laurie Evans (14th, 124 runs at 62). With Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner also in that batting unit, it is a scary sight for any opposing side.
Melbourne Renegades
Likely XI: Aaron Finch, Mackenzie Harvey, Nic Maddinson, Sam Harper, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mohammad Nabi, Will Sutherland, James Pattinson, Kane Richardson, Reece Topley, Zahir Khan
The Renegades made one change to their thirteen man squad with Jono Merlo coming in for James Seymour, however it's unlikely to have any bearing on the starting eleven. With Finch and Maddinson in the batting unit now to support the youngsters in Harvey and Fraser-McGurk, the Renegades will have a pretty settled line up.
The Renegades posted their highest score of the season on Wednesday (5/185), but still fell 21 runs short. As it has been historically, the Renegades heavy reliance on their star batters was once again a big issue in the loss, with Aaron Finch and Nic Maddinson combining for 135 of the Renegades 185 runs. After Finch and Maddinson were dismissed, the Renegades middle order barely offered anything in the run chase.
The Renegades had huge issues with the ball too, with no bowler conceding less that eight an over on Wednesday. Will Sutherland (12), Zahir Khan (11.25) Reece Topley (11) and James Pattinson (9.75) were all taken apart by the Scorchers' powerful batting line-up.
Match Prediction
I don’t think there’s much hope for the Renegades in this clash. The fact that they got massive knocks from Finch and Maddinson, but still fell apart, doesn’t hold much hope for them. The Renegades have conceded 347 runs in 36.5 overs across their last two matches, and they simply don’t have the bowling attack to contain the best batting side in the competition.
The Scorchers have had a stranglehold on the Renegades across the history of the Big Bash, with an 12-3 head to head advantage. The Scorchers have scored over 178 in four of their last five matches against the Renegades, and on what has been an excellent surface for batting this season at Marvel Stadium, they’ll have another big score in their sights.
There’s not much value in the Scorchers H2H market, so we’ll add the Scorchers to score more than 160, which they’ve done in each of their last four games. With their only miss being a score of 157 in the opening game of the season, this gives some good value for punters.

Same Game Multi
To kick off the same game multi for this clash, we’ve got arguably the most in-form T20 batsmen on the planet Mitch Marsh, to score 20+ runs. Marsh has scores of 100*, 21 and 86 in his three games so far this tournament to go with 53, 28 and 77* in the last three matches of the T20 World Cup. We’ll couple that with Marsh to hit a six, as he’s hit eleven in his three games this season.
To round out the multi, we've got Mackenzie Harvey to score 20+ runs. Harvey is the eleventh highest run scorer in BBL11 with 146 runs at an average of 48 from four games so far this season. Harvey has had knocks of 55, 19 and 71* and has been a shining light for a struggling Renegades side this season
