Match Preview
What a weird month it’s been for the Lions. They have dropped some really winnable games against the Tigers, Hawks and Saints over their last five games but bounced back well on the weekend with a dominant performance over the Dockers. The currently sit in 5th place on the ladder but find themselves a full two games and percentage behind the fourth placed Demons, so a jump into the top four is unlikely for Brisbane.
Outside of the glaring loss to star forward Eric Hipwood, the Lions injury list looks pretty solid at the moment, with only Cam Rayner out for the foreseeable future. Considering the carnage that is happening at other clubs this season, the Lions look like one of the healthiest teams in the league heading into finals.
The Pies had a great win over the Eagles last week but couldn’t back it up as they went down to the Hawks by 19 points at the MCG. The Pies sit in 16th place but don’t really need to worry about tanking to secure a better draft pick, as their first-round pick has already been traded to the Giants this season.
The Lions have been brilliant at the Gabba this season, winning their last seven straight games there by an average margin of 45 points. If they come out firing like they did against the Dockers on the weekend, they should record a really comfortable win over the Pies up north.
