We had yet another successful day with our NBA betting tips on Tuesday, hitting on 3/5 of our plays. We now turn our attention to the upcoming slate on Thursday where there are plenty of matchups to get excited about. Check out our best betting tips for the upcoming six-game slate below and good luck if following!
NBA Betting Tips: Thursday May 13th
San Antonio Spurs at Brooklyn Nets
Barclays Center, 10am AEST
The Spurs were unstoppable in their most recent outing against the Bucks, piling on a whopping 146 points in their big win. That performance came after they’d lost six of their previous seven games, so to say it was important is an understatement. The Spurs are now 2.5 games clear of the Pelicans in 11th with just four games to play.
The Nets were able to close out a pretty disappointing road trip with back-to-back wins, with their most recent coming against the Bulls. The Nets now return home where they’re 25-8 on the season, which is the third best home record in the league.
These two teams played out a thrilling game in their only other meeting this season, which came back in Back. The Nets were the winners on the road on that occasion and are the favorites to make it 2/2 against the Spurs with a win on Thursday. We’re surprised the spread has been set at just 3.5 points for this one and are more than happy to be with the home side to cover here.
One area the Spurs should have a slight advantage in is the interior, simply because of the lack of height in the Nets front court. Jakob Poeltl took advantage of that last time they met with 14 points and 12 rebounds and should be able to put up similar numbers again this time around.
Prop: Poeltl O9.5 Points ($1.95)
Portland Trail Blazers at Utah Jazz
Vivint Smart Home Arena, 11:30am AEST
The Blazers took care of business with a comfortable win against the Rockets last time out, which made it seven wins from their past eight games, with six of those being by double-digit margins. They look to be peaking at the perfect time with the playoffs looming and look destined to finish in the top six.
The Jazz fought back hard against the Warriors in their most recent outing, but eventually fell short by three points. That loss snapped another five-game win streak they’d cooked up in what has been a tremendous regular season. They now look destined to finish top of the West and with the best record in the league.
While the Jazz have clearly been the better team over the course of the season, the Blazers actually come into this in the better form. On top of that, the Jazz still have their star backcourt duo of Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell missing through injury, which should result in the travelling Blazers having the slight edge in this particular meeting.
When the Blazers are in great form it’s usually because Damian Lillard is on a tear scoring the ball, which is exactly the current situation they’re in. Lillard has now scored 30+ points in each of his last five games and has shot the three-pointer at over 50% during that stretch. In another important game for his team, expect Dame to continue on his merry way with another 30+ point performance.
Prop: Lillard 30+ Points ($2.20)

Houston Rockets at Los Angeles Lakers
Staples Center, 12:30am AEST
The end of the season couldn’t come any sooner for the Rockets who have now lost six on the spin and 11 of their past 12. In fact, the Rockets have only won five games from their past 48 games, which is pretty crazy when you think about it. On the plus side, they’ll have the best chance at landing the #1 pick in what seems to be a pretty talented upcoming draft class.
The Lakers were able to negotiate a tight overtime win over the rampaging Knicks in their first leg of a back-to-back on Wednesday. The Lakers have now won two in a row against quality opposition, but unfortunately look as though they’ll be finishing outside the top six and playing in the new play-in seeding games.
The Lakers still have a small chance of jumping into the top six, so we expect them to put out a strong outfit against this dismal Rockets team. If that’s the case, then this should be a very, very comfortable win for the home side on Thursday.
Los Angeles Lakers -13.5
