Super Rugby Round 14 Betting Tips
Hurricanes vs Reds (Friday, May 18 4:35pm AEST)
After a 9th consecutive victory, the Hurricanes will looking to continue their winning form, this time against the Reds. They average just 17.9 points allowed in defence (1st) and they also rank 1st for points scored (33.1 points per match). Meanwhile for the away side, they have a 1-4 record in their last 5 matches. The Reds are really struggling this season with a 4-6 record, not to mention an absolutely terrible performance against the Sunwolves last week. They are scoring just 19.8 points per match, which ranks 15th in Super Rugby. They also concede 30.4 points per match. So the Hurricanes attack should run riot here. They have a 4-0 record against them and the Reds are 11-24 ATS in away matches after a loss. Get on the ‘Canes at the line.

Sunwolves vs Stormers (Saturday, May 19 3:15pm AEST)
In this clash, the 1-9 Sunwolves and 5-7 Stormers face off at Mong Kok Stadium, Hong Kong on Saturday. The Sunwolves were super impressive against the Reds 63-28, which finally ended their losing streak. Meanwhile for the Stormers, they have a 2-3 record in their last 5 matches. Last week, they suffered a close loss to the Chiefs by a margin of 6 points. They are scoring 25.25 points per match and have a 5-7 record this season. Looking at the last 2 meetings, the Stormers have won both by 13 or more points. However, the Sunwolves should be confident after last week and I’ll back them to beat the underdog line.
Sunwolves Handicap (+10.5)
$1.91
Blues vs Crusaders (Saturday, May 19 5:35pm AEST)
The Blues are set to take on the Crusaders at Eden Park in their New Zealand rivalry matchup on Saturday. The Crusaders are starting to assert their dominance over the competition after a 7th straight win last week, but it wasn’t easy. They were down 29-0 against NSW and stormed back in the second half to earn a crucial victory. They rank 3rd for points scored and they should enjoy facing this Blues defence. They’ve conceded 31.36 points per match and that ranks 14th in Super Rugby. They are coming off a disappointing 36-15 loss against the Hurricanes last match at Eden Park. In the head to head, the Crusaders are 6-0 against them and the average winning margin is 12 points. Against the line, the Crusaders are 8-3 against the Blues in night matches and the Blues are 1-4 overall against them. So take on the Crusaders at the line.
Crusaders Handicap (-11.5)
$1.91
Waratahs vs Highlanders (Saturday, May 19 7:45pm AEST)
After a 3rd consecutive loss, the Waratahs will be back at home on Saturday night and they will be desperate for a win. After leading 29-0 early on against the Crusaders, the Waratahs blew the lead and lost by 2 points in the end. They’ve recently lost 2 in a row against NZ sides so it probably won’t change here. The Highlanders are coming into this clash with a 4-1 record in their last 5 matches. They beat the Lions by 12 points last week and rebounded after a disappointing defensive display over in South Africa. In this matchup, they have a 4-0 record against NSW. The last clash in Sydney was a 30-26 victory. So I like the 1-12 margin for the Highlanders as these two sides are pretty similar in attack and defence. I just think the Highlanders have a bit more class about them.

Sharks vs Chiefs (Saturday, May 19 11:05pm AEST)
On Saturday night, the 4-6 Sharks and 7-3 Chiefs meet at Growthpoint Kings Park. The Sharks are coming off a tight 33-39 loss against the Bulls last game at Loftus Versfeld. During the Sharks last 5 games, they have a 2-3 record. Meanwhile for the Chiefs, they have a 3-2 record in their last 5 matches. Last week, they just won against the Stormers in a tight battle. The Chiefs have a respectable 7-3 win-loss record in 2018. But this should be another close matchup looking at the head to head. In the last 2 matchups, the Chiefs won by 2 at home and the Sharks by 1 point at this venue. So I do like the either team bet as this match could go either way.

Lions vs Brumbies (Sunday, May 20 1:15am AEST)
The Lions will be looking to avoid a 3rd straight loss when they host the Brumbies at Emirates Airlines Park on Sunday. The Lions are the second best scoring team in Super Rugby and the Brumbies rank second last for the same. But looking at the recent meetings, the Brumbies do have a good record in South Africa against them. They’ve won the last 2, 30-20 and 34-20. The Lions are an average defensive team, so the line looks good value for ACT.
Brumbies Handicap (+16.5)
$1.91
Jaguares vs Bulls (Sunday, May 20 7:40am AEST)
The Jaguares are back from the bye and they’ll aim for a 5th straight victory. They’re suddenly in finals talk and this will be a key home match for them. Although, they have a 2-3 record at home this season and have actually performed better on the road. However, they did beat the Bulls 29-11 in the last meeting at the venue. The Bulls haven’t been a great travelling team as they hold a 1-4 record in season 2018. So it’s hard to see them winning this one. In the end, the Jaguares have an average winning margin of 7.2 points and that makes the 1-12 bet good value. The Bulls last 3 matches have also been decided by 1-12, but I will side with the Jaguares as they’re the hot team and have home field advantage.
Jaguares Margin (1-12)
