Randwick hosts the Guineas and Canterbury Stakes meeting on Saturday with a host of the country’s top horses taking part in the 10-race meeting. A key focus will be the return of Zac Purton to the country after quite some time away. He’s got plenty of rides and will be looking to show why he’s such a dominant force in Hong Kong.

Randwick Racing Tips – Saturday, March 4th 2023
Race 6
(3) Remarque is a different beast since gelded. He loves the 1000m, has had a month to freshen up, absolutely launches on a dry track, and meets a field of horses who probably have other targets in mind further into the Autumn.
(1) Eduardo should cross from the wide gate here and is one of the country’s most elite, consistent sprinters over this trip. If he leads easily enough he’ll be hard to catch.
(8) Giga Kick is unders here. He’s a great horse and won the Everest last year but is returning here 1st up over 1000m against horses who are probably sharper than him over this distance. He deserves to be respected in the market but shouldn’t be this short.
(3) Remarque – Win

Race 7
(2) Artorius gets conditions to suit tomorrow. Dry track, 1st up, good speed on paper, Zac Purton aboard. I’m itching to see how this horse goes this preparation after being absurdly unlucky not to win a race in Europe last prep.
(8) Imperatriz comes across the ditch after absolutely demolishing a group 1 field last start over 1400m. JMac is aboard and the horse could seriously cause some problems in Australia if he brings his form with him from New Zealand.
(10) Argentia is one at odds that can run a race here. Didn’t have the best ride or luck at Sandown last time and should be working into this race at the end if the pace is on early. Massive price.
(2) Artorius – Each Way
$7.10/$2.10 (1 Unit)
Race 8
(3) Aft Cabin will bounce back here. Tim Clark didn’t do the horse any favours last time as he was slow out and then worked around the entire field from last to sit outside the leader and fade in the home straight. Up in trip now isn’t ideal but he’s had a tough 1400m run and with a better ride from JMac with cover I expect Aft Cabin to explode in the straight and put this field to bed.
(8) Communist led last time and faded after he was taken on by Aft Cabin over 1400m. He can take a sit this time from gate 7 and Zac Purton should give him a nice steer. Expect him to outperform his price.
(2) Osipenko is the obvious danger to Aft Cabin after beating that horse and winning last time. Draws well again and should have plenty of favours in the run.
